Use your furnaces with the correct technique and you can prevent your shelves bending and cracking or unnecessary mishaps during the firing. Finally, thanks to our large volumes we can offer you lower prices, fast delivery times, long term economy and good value for money.

How to set a kiln…

is equally important as creating the correct design for your bodies as it is choosing glaze or the right firing curve, setting your kiln in the correct manor is vital.

Are the tubes correctly positioned on the shelves, do you have the correct distances between the products? Are the shelves correctly dimensioned for the kiln you are using? Is the weight of the furnaces and your products equally divided in the kiln?

These are the questions you should ask yourself and know the answer to before you start firing. If you are in doubt or uncertain, we are happy to recommend books that answers most common questions, just give us a call.

How can I adapt the height between the shelves?

With different types and sizes of posts and bricks, as many potters would answer.

But what if your posts are still too short or the top of the kiln setting is already overloaded?

Do not worry - there are solutions for that too. With the correct use of equipment you can vary your setting, and get the balance and weight perfect when you build your kiln.

Contact us and we will be happy to help you to choose a package of accessories that are well adapted for your kiln, furnaces and type of production.

The length of the sillimanit posts are: 25, 51, 63, 76, 101, 127, 152, 170 and 305 mm.

The length of the extension pieces are: 9, 13, 19 and 25 mm. The middle extension piece is 6 mm long. For more information please browse our main catalogue, page 65 or you can search and find more information in our e-shop.

The stilt system can of course be used with our sillimanit and high alumina shelves (we recommend a three-way-position on each shelve).

When you use our stilt system together with top or bottom pieces you will minimise the risk for any breakages due to excess pressure on your goods.
